Club players Jack Greenwood and Deon Pallett are now back in Jersey after spending a week with Championship side Huddersfield Town.
The Terriers have a first class purpose built Academy facility where the boys joined up with the full time U18’s starting at nine each morning for breakfast working through until five with the day split into four sessions. They also had the opportunity to watch Town play Liverpool in a pre-season friendly which meant huge divided loyalties for Jack who is a massive Liverpool supporter!
Feedback from Tony Carss – the U18 coach – was very positive for both boys and he felt they showed good defensive traits. He was also especially was pleased their positive attitude and professional approach saying they were very much a credit to JTC Wanderers.
Jack and Deon returned home with a comprehensive report identifying their development focus areas for the coming season and whilst they will be hoping for an invite back up North, both are really grateful to have been given the opportunity for such a fantastic experience. The Board and Management of JTC Wanderers expressed their thanks to Huddersfield for looking after the lads so well.
Additionally, Jack also has been in Ireland this summer where he joined up with Irish Premier League side Shamrock Rovers. He’s been working with the U16s at their Dublin Academy base for what was another very productive experience.
And credit to both boys who have worked hard to come up through the JTC Wanderers junior ranks and are members of the JFA Capita Centre of Excellence. They will be looking to make the step up to U18s this season and maybe even catching the eye of Andrew Johnstone at the more senior level so watch this space …
