With the Jersey Football Association deciding to end the 2019/20 season on a Points Per game basis, JTC Jersey Wanderers have been crowned champions of the Premiership and the Junior Under 16 leagues.
Club President, Daryn Noble said: “It’s 30 years since the club last won the premier league and whilst not the way we would have liked to win it, we have worked really hard this season and the outcome is justified given our position at the top of the league when fixtures were halted. I am so pleased for our sponsor JTC Group who have supported us as we have modernised and developed the club over the past few years. Winning the premiership is reward for that commitment and positions us well to build on this success. I’m also delighted for our management team of Chris Andrews, Rob Cameron and Richard Hebert plus all the club members who work so hard for the club.”
Manager, Chris Andrews, said: “I’m disappointed that the season couldn’t be played out but I can’t take away all the hard work the players, coaching staff and all the people behind the scenes have put in. We are already planning for next season and it will be tough to retain the trophy but we look forward to going again and building on this championship win.”
The well-deserved Under 16 league win is reward not only for that team but also for all of the work that is going on within the club at Junior levels. With a perfect record up until games were stopped, manager Paul Rostron thanked everyone for their support for him and the boys. “It’s been a great season for the boys and I’m pleased that the JFA decision has helped recognise the work the lads have put in and all the support from the club. It’s good to see JTC jersey Wanderers back at the top.”
